Penang – Youth Park Hiking Experience
Today is a public holiday, my family and I has chosen to go to Penang Hill for Hiking Penang Hill Via Youth Park. We made this decision because Health is the greatest asset of life, plus today weather is also quite good. At about 4 pm in the afternoon, we have reached the Youth Park car park.

After getting ready with our hiking gear, we started to go in to the Park:

Youth Park, or officially call “Taman Perbandaran” now, is a recreation park that opens to public everyday. Among utilities here are :-
- an open air skating alley for children

- Children playground

- Park

- Children swimming/play pool, and more ….

Before started our journey, the first place to visit is:- Toilet !

This toilet is built base eco friendly concept, it allows wind flow in easily and sun light, to reduce the need of electricity. It equips with bathroom, enable the swimmer to take bath and change.
Journey started :-

As it was raining yesterday, the trail a little wet and slippery, thus everybody has to be extra cautious when step on the staircase. After a while,we reached a junction. We decided to head for rest area No 6, which is the left turn.

The trail was built by some volunteers who like hiking. On the slope, they created staircase to ease other hiker .

Some parts of the trail became a easily recognized path after passing through by so many hikers, without a tour guide , a new hiker also will not be lost.

As there are a lot of junctions along the trail, leads to different rest area, hiker has to be cautious, anyway, there are some landmarks or painting along the trail, to help new hiker.

As today weather is quite hot,we really sweated ,like work under the hot sun !
Malaysia is belong to tropical climate, we can see a lot of unique plants and flowers, one interesting spices is the pitcher plant:
We also found monkeys along the way, swinging from one tree to another.

Even though it is under the hot sun, thank to all the tropical trees, we did not feel too hot, what a good hiking environment !
After sometimes, we have reached our final challenge, after this we will reach our first destination, rest area No 6. This is the most challenging part of this hike.
The last challenge, without have to conserve energy, we rushed to today destination, rest area No. 6, took a check at time, we have taken about 45 minutes. If we take the left turn, it will leading to the Peak of Penang Hill, it will pass through rest area No. 39 and 84. Instead, we took the right turn, which is heading towards rest area No. 5. About 5 minutes, we have reached the rest area No. 5. This is one the most well established rest area. It provides some chairs for those tiring hikers.

There also some equipments for people to perform exercise. This place is very windy and cooling, a very good venue for people to rest,a lot will people will take a short break here.
One thing to highlight, there are some volunteers prepared some drinks and biscuits, the black coffee aroma, so attracting! All these are provided free to public! In the busy city life, it is very difficult to find such a wonderful people that not only maintain the supply of drinks and biscuit, but also help to take care the house keeping of this rest area. Thank you, guys !

There is also a reasonably clean toilet.

After the rest area No. 5, continue to climb down hill, about 10 minus walk, we were at another rest are, rest area No.3, the specialty of rest area No. 3 is the free drink “Ginger tea” and fried Bee Hoon (noddle) . Unfortunately ,a little disappointed today as there is not Ginger tea, just have normal Chinese Tea. Same a rest area No. 5, this place also maintain very well by volunteers who are also regular hiker.
Next to rest area No.3, do not understand why, there is big compound that without any plant From this place?we can view Penang Island and Butterworth?the whole George Town , can be seen clearly?what a wonderful view !

Sometimes we also can hear sound of bell ringing, it is because there are some Indian temples just at the bottom of the hill?every Indian temple has their own unique architecture?

From another angle , we can see the 3rd longest bridge in the worth, the Penang Bridge.
After another 10 to 15 minutes, we were back to Youth Park again. Our journey ends here.
